Allegedly, a woman was reportedly raped on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus, with her husband confined in a residential hall during the incident. The accused individuals are Mustafizur Rahman, a student of the international relations department and the international affairs secretary of the JU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), and Mamun, a 45-year-old outsider. The incident occurred near the Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall around 9:30 pm on Saturday, and the accused are currently at large. Mustafizur has been suspended from his position within BCL, and an immediate protest erupted on campus following the incident.
Inspector Abdur Rasik at Savar Model Police Station confirmed the incident, stating that the victim reported her ordeal at the police station. The police are conducting a primary investigation into the matter. The campus witnessed a protest with students gathering at Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall, demanding the expulsion of the alleged rapists from the campus and legal punishment.
Mustafizur had previous connections with Mamun, who was known to the victim’s family as a former tenant. The victim’s husband, accompanied by Mamun, visited the JU campus on Saturday evening. Subsequently, he persuaded the husband to call the victim to the campus under the pretext of buying household items. Upon arrival, Mustafizur and Mamun forcefully confined the husband while taking the victim to a nearby bush, where they allegedly raped her.
Efforts are underway to identify the accused through CCTV footage, as confirmed by the hall provost, Sabbir Alam. Aktaruzzaman Sohel, the BCL president of JU unit, announced Mustafizur’s suspension and expressed intent to recommend his permanent expulsion from the organization. JU proctor ASM Firoz-ul-Hasan assured that individuals involved in the incident would face punishment under state law and university regulations, pledging to bring them to justice.

Strict action should be taken against them
I don’t think there will be any trial for them, they are leaders of Chhatra League
