It is truly astonishing how many people believe that Awami League is the epitome of political excellence. They have managed to turn politics upside down, but not in a positive way. Instead of learning valuable lessons from them, it seems that stealing has become a core principle of their political strategy.
Take, for instance, their approach to elections. When Awami League came to power, they shamelessly stole the country and manipulated the system to ensure their victory. They even had the audacity to abolish the caretaker government, a system that provided some level of fairness and transparency.
The corruption surrounding the Padma Bridge project is another glaring example of Awami League’s disregard for the people’s money. Initially, a survey was conducted during the BNP government, and the project was approved at a cost of Tk 10,161 crore. The World Bank was even willing to fund this amount. However, Sheikh Hasina’s own family members and government officials were caught in a corruption scandal related to the bridge. Instead of facing the consequences, they shamelessly announced that they would build the bridge with “their own” money. But let’s not forget that this money is actually the hard-earned money of the people.
Not only are they stealing from the people, but they are also burdening them with enormous debts. The cost of the bridge has skyrocketed to 30,000 crores, three times the original estimate. This reckless spending is funded by the people’s taxes, with 17 rupees out of every 100 rupees going towards paying off this debt. It is truly baffling how Awami League manages to portray themselves as heroes while engaging in such blatant corruption and mismanagement. If this is the kind of politics we should learn from, then I fear for the future of our country.
This fascist awami League will soon start a course on how to loot taxpayers’ money, and I believe it will be impossible for ordinary people to pass it. With so many candidates in the current Awami League cabinet, it will be tough to choose one. All of them are notorious thieves.
